Honest, human support

Our Educator community

Weekly wellbeing, straight to your phone

We run a growing Educator community of around 500 teachers, teaching assistants and school support staff. Every week we share a little lift: a message, a video or a practical read to help you look after yourself through the term. Here are a few of our recent ones.

The 3-2-1 Method, a 90-second reset for busy school days: three things you can see, two things you can hear, one thing you can touch. Small pauses add up to a calmer day.

The 3-2-1 method: a 90-second reset

You know that feeling when the bell goes, you have four minutes between classes, and there is nowhere to just breathe? TAs often get the least downtime of anyone in a school day, yet are expected to be endlessly patient and present. Try the 3-2-1 method, 90 seconds, anywhere: take a breath and notice three things you can see, two you can hear and one you can touch. It resets your nervous system faster than scrolling your phone. You do not need permission or a perfect moment: a corridor, a stairwell or a sink you are washing your hands at all count.

Calm's Self-Care Guide for Teachers

A lovely one from Calm: their Self-Care Guide for Teachers and Educators. Think of it as a menu, not homework. Pick whatever sounds appealing, deep breathing, better sleep, a digital detox, the lot, and ignore the rest. No pressure to read it all at once; small steps count. One to dip in and out of, and come back to whenever you fancy ten minutes of calm in your day.

The viral stretch routine with 45 million views

If you have been on social media lately you may have spotted this one: a simple daily movement routine rooted in traditional Chinese practice that has gone properly viral. The claim is that it helps reset your nervous system, release fascia, activate the vagus nerve and get your lymph moving. For anyone working in a school this feels particularly relevant. Nervous systems in education take a battering: back-to-back lessons, no long breaks, constant noise and decisions. A few minutes of gentle stretching, tapping and shaking between periods, or before the car park at 3:30, could be the difference between wired and frazzled and actually able to switch off tonight. No equipment, no gym kit, no staffroom awkwardness: doable in a classroom, corridor or playground.

Be a Mr. Jensen

As many of you head into the final week of the school year, we wanted to share a story that stayed with us. It tells of a teacher who looked beyond a child's behaviour and saw potential, and how that one moment of understanding changed a life forever. You may never know the full impact you have had, but many children will always remember how you made them feel. Thank you for the care and dedication you have shown this year.

Work Wellbeing Week

In schools it is easy to put everyone else first. This week, take a moment to check in with yourself and those around you. Step outside for ten minutes, keep your water topped up, check in with a colleague, and give yourself permission to switch off in the evening. Need a boost? Take three and a half minutes for Kid President's Pep Talk, funny, uplifting and a brilliant reminder that we can all make someone's day brighter.
