Teaching Assistant (ASD Base) – October Start – Contract – £16,500 – £18,500 – Sutton
WhoFoundWho’s partnered client is a welcoming ASD Base for approximately 50 primary-aged children on the autistic spectrum. A multi-disciplinary and individualised ethos is followed at the school, all staff have an outstanding understanding of ASD and each child’s needs.
About the Successful Teaching Assistant (ASD Base)
- Available full-time, Monday to Friday (term-time only)
- Outstanding knowledge of working effectively with children on the autistic spectrum
- Flexibility and a deep understanding of supporting each child and their individual needs through curriculum adjustments
- Makaton and PECS
- Happy to support with occasional personal care when required
- Lives within commutable distance or within the borough of Sutton
- Be approachable, enthusiastic and reliable
- Relevant degree or training
About the Teaching Assistant (ASD Base) Role
- To provide support to all children (or 1-1) in the Base
- To work effectively under the direction of the Class Teacher
- To enthusiastically participate in ongoing training and professional development to ensure best practice
- To support the social and communication needs of all students
- Differentiate resources to effectively support individual needs
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Safeguarding and other relevant school policies
- To use specialist skills to meet the needs of all students and support the integration into a mainstream classroom
- To manage behaviours effectively
- To monitor and assess the progress of students
- To work alongside a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists
