SEN Teaching Assistant– September Start – Temp to Perm – £90 – £95 per day – Croydon

WFW is currently working in partnership with a lovely independent special school in Croydon, which caters for children up to 25 years with complex medical needs and PMLD. This is an incredibly rewarding role which offers excellent training, induction and progression opportunities.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be supporting in the classroom, therapy department and with personal and medical care. They are also hoping that this candidate will have experience driving a minibus, or be willing to learn! This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a varied and rewarding role or who is thinking about a career in therapy in the future.

 

Person specification

  • Have a caring, patient and positive personality
  • Have a hands-on approach and use initiative
  • Have a full, clean driving license and be happy to drive a minibus (they can provide training if you haven’t driven one before)
  • Be an excellent timekeeper, have good references and record of attendance
  • Experience working with people (ideally children and adolescents) with complex medical needs and physical disabilities
  • PECS, Makaton or experience working with children who are non-verbal
  • Willingness to carry out personal care (support with toileting and feeding)
  • PEG feeding, hoisting and manual handling experience would be beneficial, although training will be provided
  • Happy to support with hydrotherapy in the swimming pool
  • Willingness to undertake training courses and develop your skills by learning from colleagues and SLT
  • Background in the care, support work and nursing sectors are encouraged to apply

 

About the role

  • Working within a special education setting with children with complex medical needs and physical disabilities
  • Work as a team, alongside teachers, SLT and other support staff, to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students
  • Be given the opportunity to take part in internal and external training and be offered dedicated support from the SLT and SENDCo
  • Temp to perm contract
  • Starting in September 2023
