Our partnered primary school is looking for energetic and motivated individuals passionate about supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs. About the PRU Teaching Assistant Role

As a PRU Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside an amazing multi-disciplinary team of passionate professionals to give the students of this school the best possible outcomes for their future.

 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing behavioural, well-being, social, physical and academic support to students at risk of exclusion or with social-emotional mental health (SEMH) needs and other complex needs including autism, ADHD and speech and language difficulties
  • Working with all students within the classroom and/or on a 1:1 basis
  • Working alongside the class teachers, therapists, SLT and other TAs to ensure the best possible opportunities for all students
  • Ensuring a safe, welcoming and positive environment
  • Managing challenging behaviours and conflict resolution to encourage positive and healthy peer relationships
  • Promoting the school’s ethos, values and policies

 

About the Successful PRU Teaching Assistant

  • Experience in a similar role (beneficial)
  • A good understanding of SEMH and SEND
  • Confident and strong behaviour management skills
  • Flexible approach and happy to work in and out of the classroom
  • Reliable, resilient and positive

 

Other transferable skills or experience in the following roles although some school-based experience is essential

Important Information

  • Location: Croydon
  • Days: Monday to Friday (term-time only)
  • Hours: 8:30am – 4pm
  • Contract: Long-term until July ’24 with potential for a permanent contract for next academic year or sooner
  • Start date: November 2023 or January 2024
  • Pay: £90 – £110 per day *umbrella
